Description
We’re an emerging digital media company with remote opportunities for experienced freelance writers. At the moment, we’re looking for writers with intermediate to advanced knowledge of optics. This is a short-term freelance gig that should last 3–6 months, but there’s potential for long-term work if you want to write about other subjects (to be determined). Above all, you should be enthusiastic if not passionate about optics, and have demonstrable writing chops.
You’ll be writing about:
- Telescopes
- Binoculars
- Laser sights
- Gun scopes
- Drones
- Cameras
- Tripods
- Night vision goggles
- Birdwatching
- Astronomy
...and much more!
We offer:
- $.05 per word starting rate (slightly negotiable)
- Consistent work (weekly or monthly deadlines)
- Comprehensive documentation and resources for writing
- Editorial support
- Flexible workloads
- Byline or ghostwriting positions
What we don’t need:
- SEO expertise
- Topic generation
Requirements:
- Exceptional English written and verbal skills—you DON’T need to be a Native English speaker, but it helps
- Accountability—you don’t blow through deadlines or turn in crappy work
- Strong knowledge of optics—you know your stuff
- Familiarity with (or a willingness to learn about) Google Drive and content management, i.e. uploading written work to a folder
Types of articles to be written:
Product reviews (10 Best Thermal Binoculars)
How-to guides (How to Attract More Birds to Your Garden)
Listicles (X Types of Telescopes)
In-depth explainers (How Much Does a Drone Cost in 2022?)
The hiring process may involve a paid trial article (at $.05 per word).
Please apply at your earliest conveniences. Applicants will be contacted on a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately, we can't reach out to every applicant; however, we will keep your application on file for contact at a later date.
