Description
A rapidly-growing Manhattan based media company is seeking a regular blog contributor to produce editorially directed content of interest to musicians. Our audience ranges from weekend rockers to aspiring professional musicians, so this position requires both actual musicians and those with a deep knowledge and passion for the music business.
The role will consist of regular writing assignments as directed by the blog editor, with opportunity over time for topical input from the blogger. The blogger will be responsible for creating an extremely well written, clear, topically directed and SEO-optimized blog post and (when necessary) a single revision of the post at the direction of the blog editor. Once final approval from the editor is received, the blogger will be responsible for publishing the post in the WordPress CRM.
All posts must contribute to furthering the blog’s editorial mission: “Helping musicians thrive in a post label worldâ€. The blog features a strong selection of do-it-yourself (or “DIYâ€) focused content.
Requirements
• Excellent writing ability
• Intimate knowledge of music equipment, techniques and industry
• Previous experience writing blog content, ideally using WordPress
• An understanding of SEO optimized blog content and how to write “web-friendly†content
• Strong internet research skills to support content creation
• Ability to create 300-600 word posts up to three times a day, Monday through Friday, reliably delivering on deadline
An ideal candidate will possess an ability and desire to promote the blog through strong connections in music community on the web and a personal social media presence.
This job is compensated on a flat fee, per post basis. The starting rate is $5-$10 per post, based on track record in music industry, writing ability, web-savvy, personal notoriety and ability to drive traffic to blog content.
As reliability, talent and traffic are proven, a traffic-based revenue incentives may be offered. Our top blog contributors are expected to make thousands of dollars a month in exchange for a commitment to regular posts and traffic driving.
