The Wealth Noir Group is a small network of three digital media websites and is looking for an editor to manage the content schedule across all three brands. The sites under our company are:
WealthNoir.com - Financial Literacy articles aimed at the high-income black professional millennial, focused on financial freedom and generational wealth. Newest, but growing quickly and primary focus.
SingleBlackMale.org - Dating, Relationship, and Lifestyle site aimed at black millennials. Created in 2007, it's the oldest and largest brand, relaunching this year.
DamienPeters.com - Personal website of the founder of The WN Group. Former Facebook Product Manager, MIT alum, and active Diversity in tech advocate.
We are looking for someone with experience running blogs and websites with multiple writers and copyeditors. An ambitious and self-driven individual who can help bring order to the editorial process. Most importantly, we need someone who understands and connects with our target demographic, black millennials and believes in the mission behind our brands.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage the flow of content from the writer, through editing, and to publishing using Asana
- Up to date knowledge of current events and issues impacting black millennials
- Help refine and document our editorial process across sites
- Help create and refine style guides for writers
- Manage content schedule to ensure a good mix of topics for each sites core audience.
- Work with freelance and guest writers to create high-quality content
- Work with our Social Media Manager to plan promotions content publishing
Qualifications
- Direct editorial management of a multi-writer blog/website
- Basic knowledge of major social media networks and digital marketing
- Basic knowledge of SEO research for article creation and topic choice
- Experience working with writers on refining and updating written content to be publish-ready
- Personal interest and desire in black millennial demographic with history of serving this audience
- Personal finance experience a major plus
- Professional Journalism experience a plus
- Advertising and affiliate experience a plus
Compensation: This role pays on an hourly, weekly or per article basis. We are self-funded and don't have a large budget, but will be increasing compensation as the site and responsibilities grow. Compensation will depend on editors past experience and will start with 30-day trial period. Feel free to indicate an expected range with your application. Expected hourly range: $15-35 an hour
Time Expectation: 10-20 hours a week
Location: Remote. Location near Oakland, CA a plus, but the team is managed and ran remotely.
