Description

Wouldn’t it be amazing to get well paid for writing about something you love?

Imagine it.

Imagine getting up each morning, sitting down at your laptop with a cup of coffee and beginning to plan a new piece of writing which will allow you to share something you love with the world.

Something new. Something that spreads the wonderful gift of music around the world.

  • If you want to combine your twin passions of writing and playing guitar…
  • If you want to enjoy a stable income…
  • If you want to work for a fast-growing and much-loved company…
  • If you want to work with a close-knit team of fellow musicians…

…Then this might be the best opportunity you’ve seen in a long, long time. Interested? Let’s do this!

Music is a unifying force

National Guitar Academy is the world’s biggest online guitar-learning resource.

Every year several million people visit our site and our mission is to help every one of them become the guitarist of their dreams.

A fresh opportunity and a big moment in your career

We’re looking for a full-time writer to create amazing blog posts and articles about every aspect of guitar playing and becoming a better guitarist.

Music is our passion! It enriches the moments of our lives. We want this to shine through in the things you create.

Important note: Around 95% of our site visitors are total beginner guitarists.

  • You do NOT have to be an expert guitarist.
  • You DO have to be a capable intermediate guitarist who can communicate clearly.

About your future

This has the potential to be a long-term career for the right person.

We’re looking for a talented, dedicated writer who is seeking some stability in their income and wants to commit to a long-term passion-project, writing about something they love: Playing guitar!

In everything we do, we think long term. This is an important role for us and we see this as a long-term permanent role for the right candidate.

But of course, in the early stages we’ll keep things loose and flexible until we all feel things are working well.

Essential criteria

  • At least 1 year of full-time writing experience for online outlets (websites, blogs, etc). Proof will be required during the interview stage.
  • You must be at least an intermediate-level guitarist who can comfortably play E and A shaped barre chords. This will be tested during the interview stage.

You should be able to handle the following tools efficiently:

  • Google Drive
  • WordPress
  • Slack (communication)
  • Skype (video chat)

If you're not sure whether you're an excellent writer, please don't apply. Our stuff is top quality. Your writing must be too!

Location

You can be anywhere in the world as long as your time zone overlaps UK time for 3 working hours a day (between 9am-5pm) Monday to Friday.

Remuneration

You write high-quality, impeccably-researched, coherent and intelligent content and we'll pay you $2,000 a month.

We need five 2000-word pieces from you a week. (It doesn’t really matter what day you submit them, as long as we get 5 per week.)

The Application Process

Before you do anything, please take a long look at our website to get a feel for the writing tone and an overall sense of what we do. Read 2-3 of our guides and you’ll pick it up quickly.

If you meet the essential criteria please submit your application here:

(If you don’t meet the essential criteria, please don’t apply.)

What happens next?

We’ll review your application and if you’re successful we’ll contact you and we can move to the interview stage.

After that stage is a paid trial project to assess your skills, and then we'll move on to a 4-week paid "honeymoon" period to assess our working relationship.

By this point we should have a regular working rhythm, and know how well we work together. We can move forward from there.

Thank you

We look forward to hearing from you and hope we can work together soon!
