We are looking for talented writers with an obsession for local area hang out spots such as bars, restaurants, lounges, coffee shops, etc. to write for us on a weekly basis. We need the content to be engaging and shareable on social media which in turn generates consistent, relevant traffic and increases brand awareness.
This will be freelance work to start, with the possibility to transition into a part-time or full-time position.
Start date: Immediate
Based: Remote – wherever you are
Expectation: At least 3 articles per week
In order to be considered on the team, you should know that we're looking for the following:
- Local experience in the cities we operate in (Austin, D.C., Denver, and Los Angeles as of June 2017)
- A background in HTML and/or WordPress
- Previous blogging experience
- A college degree in journalism, English or communications (a plus)
Your articles need to be informative but fun and targeted towards millennials. Articles need to be at least 700 words in length with a minimum of one graphic or video. We want to know you can write in clear, concise style but we're not looking for overly technical data. We want articles that everyone can understand and would apply to anyone.
Having a social presence (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, G+) is an added bonus for your application as well as prior writing experience for sites like Forbes, Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, etc.
Payments: we will pay you bi-weekly or monthly, via direct deposit, Venmo, or Paypal.
The price per article is $10-$15 for local area info, or $15-$25 if we decide on more thorough topics or when writing lists (10 top Whiskey bars in downtown Austin; Top 25 restaurants for a first date in D.C., etc.) If you include videos then the price goes to $25-$30 an article/video post.
