LawnStarter seeks a writer of articles about studies tracking trends in lawn care, home services, and buzzworthy topics. We’re looking for someone whose writing about research leaves viewers saying, “Aha! I hadn’t thought of that!”
We want media mentions of our study stories. Your writing gets the attention of news producers and radio hosts so our studies are featured on their newscasts, stations and websites.
The studies writer must have:
-- Experience writing engaging articles about data. You connect the dots for viewers to shed new light on the topic.
-- Experience reaching out to and including expert commentary on data and research. These experts help you to explain the findings in simple, clear terms, through their eyes and analysis.
The studies writer must be:
-- Data driven: What story does the data tell? Must be able to decipher studies and research to produce solid stories that will get media attention.
-- Deadline focused: You must file complete stories on time. Sometimes the data may be recalculated to tell a better story. You may need to turn a story quickly on rare occasions.
-- Accurate: Facts and data have to be reported accurately. You’re a stickler for detail and getting things right.
-- Proactive: Bonus points if you can find additional data (working with our data analyst) that bolsters your story. More bonus points if you pitch a great idea for a study story.
-- Follow directions: Study stories are formulaic (2-3 paragraphs intro, key findings, map/chart/infographic, ask the experts, methodology -- these pieces tell and show the story). Must be able to stick to the script or outline to cover all of the bases.

-- Location doesn’t matter. We’re all virtual.
-- Experience and quality matter.
-- Fast payment, which often matters a lot to writers.
