If so we are looking for writers for a gardening website that covers all gamuts of horticulture to include but not limited to:

  • Food production
  • Horticulture
  • Flower gardening
  • Outdoor rooms
  • Outdoor structures
  • Organic and conventional
  • Container Gardening
  • Pest control
  • Landscaping
  • Landscape design
  • Recipe creation
  • Product buying guides and reviews

Job Responsibilities

Writer(s) will be expected to write approximately 80% information content and 20% buying guides / product review content.

Writers must be capable of writing unique and original pieces in an informal style with minimal fluff. No rehashed crap from the around the net.

In depth 1,500 to 5,000 word articles articles are the norm, but we change it up occasionally with shorter pieces.

Qualifications

Writers MUST be excellent English speakers and have a good sense of grammar and composition. Normally writers should be native English speakers but exceptions may be made if the writer brings a cultural technique/skillset with them...i.e. Japanese gardening techniques.

The ideal candidate(s) would be:

  1. Familiar with AP styling.
  2. Familiar with WordPress.
  3. Familiar with Photoshop.
  4. Possess the ability to take decent in progress photos of their own gardening projects. We use a mixture of original and stock photos.
  5. Familiar with researching and writing in-depth articles.
  6. Ability to conduct interviews (in person, on the phone, or written).
  7. Be passionate about gardening!

Those are not ALL requirements, just preferences.

Pay

We normally pay competitive hourly rates but would be willing to pay by the word or article/project for the right person/people. That being said, if you think you are worth a $1 a word, then please don't waste our and your time. We ain't Better Homes and Gardens but we pay a fair rate.

About Us

We are a small digital media company headquartered in Texas with two large Foodie sites and a smaller gardening site with plans develop others in the the Home and Garden space.

Although this is a contract job, full-time employment opportunities with benefits may open in the future as we grow.
