The Job and Who We Are
We’re a fast-growing nature website backed by a founding team that has managed websites that generate more than 100 million monthly page views. As a full time writer for this website, your subjects matter can include pets, animals, geography (lakes, rivers, etc.), nature, plant life, and beyond.
In the past year we’ve brought on 15+ full time contract writers who can devote 40 hours per week to the site, and we’re looking a select group of writers to join our team!
What Will Be Expected Of You
We're looking for someone that can dedicate 40 hours per week as a dedicated writer. We expect a minimum of 40 posts per month. Posts are generally 1,000 words in length, but some may be longer depending on the assignment. Our standard post pays $70 ($.07 per word) and payments scale with article length.
Most importantly, we have a very expansive content schedule that includes assignments and daily posts you can claim that include additional bonuses. Several of our writers make six figures annually. The bottom line is that if you’re a prolific writer, this contract work was made for you. The upside of this role is only limited by your level of production. We expect our relationship with all writers to continue for more than a year. This is a long-term writing position.
Requirements
The most important elements of succeeding in this job are:
- Reliability – This is a full-time writing position, so we expect consistent submissions.
- Strong Writing Ability – Native English speakers (or equivalent) preferred.
- Intellectual Curiosity – We don’t need you to be an expert or even biologist, but you need to have a strong desire to write about animals and the natural world.
Past backgrounds of successful writers have varied from nature writers to working for ScreenRant. Most importantly, you need to be able to develop a system for writing accurately and at scale. We want to emphasize, if writing 50 articles per month seems like too much, this job just likely isn’t for you.
About That $1,000 Bonus
Right off the bat, we need to be clear: we’ve very selective. Before bringing you on full time we’ll do a couple trial projects to make sure we’re a good fit to work together. If you do become a full time writer for the site, the first month you submit 50 articles, we’ll pay you a $1,000 bonus for officially joining the team as a full-time writer.
More Details
We pay our full-time writers every two weeks. There is no limit on the number of articles you write as long as you’re maintaining the quality we require. We have a significant backlog with thousands of article ideas and our goal is that you’ll always have article assignments ready for you. In addition, we’ll ask that you work with our Content Management System for posting articles. If you’ve never worked with WordPress, we’ll provide training and documentation (it’s pretty simple, we promise!).We don’t have significant editing or back and forth on articles, rather we focus on upfront training and working with our writers as partners. We don’t have “hours” you need to work, but rather we just ask for consistency of submissions. If you’d like to submit your work between 2 AM and 4 AM because you’re a night owl, that’s perfectly fine.
