Description

Are you the kind of person that wants to have a better looking lawn than your neighbors? Is anything less than the perfect lawn stripe a failure? Is mowing the lawn your absolute favorite activity?

Alright, alright, alright. Maybe that’s pushing it a little. But you catch my drift. I’m looking for a writer that is passionate about lawn care. If that’s you, please keep reading.

I’m Chris and I run a blog about lawn care and lawn care tools (primarily mowers, but we talk about trimmers, dethatchers and a bunch of other things too). I’m on the lookout for a knowledgeable and motivated writer to help me expand the site.

Most of our content at the moment relates to the tools themselves, but I have a huge list of ideas relating to lawn care practices and tips that I want to work through. Advice on the different types of grass, identifying lawn problems and providing solutions, and just generally helping people to get their lawns as close to pristine as possible. As no neighborhood deserves a patchy, yellow, ugly lawn, right?!

What’s Required?

So here’s the most important things I’m looking for in the ideal writer.

  • Write in a fun, engaging way. I try to make the content on the site quite fun and relatable, and it’s important that you can replicate that style.
  • Be genuinely interested in lawn care. Ideally you’d be very knowledgeable about the topic too, but at the very least I need you to actually be interested in the topic and enjoy taking care of your lawn. If you hate mowing the lawn and think all lawns look the same, this isn’t for you.
  • Be capable of researching. Each piece you work on will different and some topics might be less familiar and require more research. I need you to be capable of tracking down information from credible sources and base your writing on that.
  • Follow the article structure we use. We produce a few different types of posts and have a set structure for each. I need you be able to follow our article formats to a T.
  • Must be available to produce content regularly. I have roughly 150 – 175 articles that I want to have written by the end of October, so I’m going to need you to have a lot of availability over the next couple of months, and ongoing availability after that.
  • The blog is directed primarily at a US based audience, so you need to be able to write in US English and ideally be familiar with local tendencies.

Some Important Details

  • I’m looking to hire someone long-term. As mentioned, I have 150-175 articles I’d like to try and get published before the end of October. And after that there will be 20-30 articles per month on an ongoing basis.
  • Payment will be bi-weekly, although I’m happy to pay on a per article basis initially to build trust. Payment will be made via PayPal.
  • Your location isn’t important, neither are your hours. Fit the work around the rest of your life and feel free to work in your PJs!
  • If your application seems like a good fit, we can proceed to a paid trial piece to see if you walk the walk as good as you talk the talk.

And don’t forget to say “Thank You Very Mulch” at the end of your application. Treating each other with respect from the very beginning is super important to me.
