We are currently looking to expand our team working to critically analyse and summarise poems from the past and present.
What is PoemAnalysis.com?
Started back in 2015, PoemAnalysis.com has grown to become one of, if not the, largest database of poetry analysis on the internet, which has provided scope to increase our team to recruit more freelancers.
What does the job involve?
- Analysing and summarising poetry. Please look at the hundreds of articles already on the website to get an idea of how poems are analysed.
- Each article is required to be roughly between 1200-1500 words long including the poem (if the poem is around 200 words).
- Brief introduction to the poem analysis
- Stanza by stanza or section by section analysis looking at summarising, the language used and techniques used by the poet.
- About the author section at the end
- A look at the structure of the poem
- A look at the form, tone, themes etc.
- Poems are typically chosen by the freelancer so there is freedom to choose what you want to analyse. However, it is expected at least half of the poems analysed come from a list provided by a Trello list, which is a list of what web users have requested they would like analysed.
What experience do you need?
Ideally, you will have academic background in English language or Literature, be it at A Level (for UK) or at degree level (worldwide). Examples of your work should be provided.
If you are accepted, we expect the first analysis to be completed for free, as a trial to see if the analysis is up to the correct standard for the website. Once approved, payments will be made every week for future work, either Friday evening or Saturday morning GMT.

- Those that have worked for PoemAnalysis.com have found, over time, that the workload can increase upon approval of wanting and providing more work.
What is the rate per article?
This is entirely dependent on a case-by-case situation. Based on the budget of the website and the experience and quality of the experience and analysis of poetry, the rate is negotiated between each party.
There is also an additional rate of $1 per comment to reply to any comments asking any questions about any of the analysis you produce, which is expected to be between 50-100 words per comment reply.
We are also expanding the website to accomodate a forum, for which would provide a similar rate to answer queries on the forum.
