Job Description

I’m looking for an obsessive, determined, enthusiastic, copywriter to help me fill out content for my site and help write an engaging blog for the digital marketing vertical.

What It'll Be Like

At first, your content will be between 500-1,000 words for the site content.  Once that’s done you’ll craft blog posts between 1,000-5,000 words.

The content will have to be original, engaging and just plain fun to read.  I don’t want to create fodder for SEO. While I will use the content for SEO, I want to use it to really grow an audience.

Authorship

I am open to you writing under your own name to help you create a personal brand, or ghost write for me.  Ghostwriting will pay more.

What You Need To Know

I want you to have a solid understanding of inbound marketing, social media, lead generation and SEO.  You don’t need to be an expert, but knowing the subject matter you’re writing about will help us both.

Your writing skills must be ridiculously awesome.  The goal is to use the content to attract customers and build an audience.

This position will have a huge impact on the launch and growth of my company so, you’ll play a vital role in our success.

How I Manage My Team

My team and I use Agile Project Management for site development and client work.  We have a daily stand-up meeting via video chat.  Most meetings are less than 15 minutes.

The Future

Once we launch your work may grow into helping us create content for clients or helping to find and edit other writers.

Here are some examples of what I am looking for:

Requirements

Research, write and edit inbound marketing posts.  Your focus will be on SEO, email marketing, marketing automation, lead generation, SEM, and social media marketing.

I’ll be happy to provide you sample content for you to write “Make Like” articles, but to be really successful you’ll want to come to the table with ideas.

Graphics

You’ll need to gather, capture or find graphics for your posts.  I have an adobe stock account you can use, you can use screen captures or use graphics with a creative common’s license.

Formatting

I use markdown for the site. You’ll need to have a passing familiarity with how to sue markdown to format your posts.  I have a style guide and a sample template you can follow.

The Musts

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in content marketing, social media marketing, copywriting, lead generation, and SEO.
  • You must have a passion for writing and marketing.  I’m looking for high-quality content, not low-quality posts.  Some of the content you produce will be showcased on TV and pushed out through social promotion.
  • You’re able to write entertaining, in-depth, and shareable content based on keywords or concepts in the inbound marketing vertical.
  • You’ll be amazing at editing and formatting your content for the web.
  • You’re organized and love to check things off your todo list.
  • You’ll be able to create or collaborate on a monthly content calendar, and meet deadlines.
  • You’re never satisfied with good enough.
  • You’re able to write using You and I, to keep content personal and engaging.
  • You’re writing tone is friendly and conversational.
  • You can produce one or two 500-1000 word pieces of content per day while we build out the site content.
  • You can produce two to three pieces of epic content (1,000-5,000 words) per week once we shift to the blog.

How Much You’ll Get Paid

Site content - 500-1000 words with three to five graphics: $50-$100/post

Blog Content - 1,000-5,000 words with five to ten graphics: $100-$500/post

What if You Have Your Own Audience?

If you already have an audience or a successful personal brand I’ll discuss paying more for your content if you promote it to your tribe.

What If You Don't Have Your Own Audience?

If you don’t have an audience and want to use this opportunity to build your personal brand I’ll be happy to discuss with you how you can make additional money promoting your content.

If you don’t care about any of that and just want to write, I’m happy to have you ghost write for me.

Next steps

Send me some samples of your writing.  I’d like to see it formatted like this:

  1. A single headline - this should contain the keyword you are targeting
  2. A sub-headline
  3. Introduction - summarizing what the post is about
  4. A sub-headline
  5. Main body text
  6. A sub-headline
  7. Main body text
  8. A sub-headline
  9. Conclusion - end with a question to encourage engagement.

What Will Happen Then?

Once you send me your samples, I'll read them and contact you.
