Description

Hi there. We’re looking for writers to help us create rich and informative content for the DistantJob website. You’ll be helping flesh out our developer and programing languages section, which you can find here: https://distantjob.com/hire-developer/

Please read the following attentively. There will be a test at the end. We'll disregard messages from people who don't pass. People who pass will become legendary, famous, rich, beautiful, and we'll contact them for an interview. Well, one of these things will happen, at least.

Here’s what we expect from you:

  • Good English. You don’t have to be a native speaker, but your writing should read pleasantly to a native speaker.
  • No word stuffing. We pay per word. We can see it if you're stuffing your articles full of super-complex sentences and lots of words just to charge us more. We will just ask you to revise and simplify it, wasting our time and yours. Don’t do it.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and the ability to properly structure your writing around them. Ideally, you should have a certification like the one from https://academy.hubspot.com/courses/content-marketing (It’s free so go ahead and take it if you don’t have a similar thing.)
  • The ability to write authoritatively on the topic. If you are familiar with any programming language, that is a definite bonus; if not, you should be willing to research, learn, and pass on the learning to our readers.

Here’s what’s in it for you:

  • A pretty big freelance gig. We need around 12 articles done, averaging at 1000 words each.
  • We’re cool people, and we’re flexible with deadlines. We want you to do quality work and won’t complain if that takes an extra day or two.
  • We pay on time.

Here’s what you need to include in your application to get the job:

  • Link to one sample of your best writing. One. 1. Uno. If you have trouble deciding, roll the dice. Please send only one. Bonus points if it’s a technical piece.
  • Link to your CV or LinkedIn profile. Bonus points if you add an SEO certification like the one linked above.
  • Your rate per thousand words, in USD.

That’s it. See you on the other side!

P.S.: Actually, that’s not it. We love people that read the “PS” more than we love the other people. So tell us what’s your favorite book / comic book after the points we described above. The other guys? We’re not reading their applications.
