The Conservative Institute is a project of Shaun Connell and is part of The Strong Society’s network of projects to defend the basic institutions of Western civilization.
The organization was founded in April of 2017 to supply a severe demand in the political publishing world: premium news and analysis from a conservative worldview.
In a world of endless propaganda, misleading headlines, and shallow content, finding quality news sources is nearly impossible. This problem is especially severe for readers of the conservative persuasion.
CI prides itself in being fundamentally different in tone and substance from most political websites by providing high-quality research, sober-minded rhetoric, and principled defenses of conservatism with daily content both on the conservativeinstitute.org website and our email newsletter.
CI is looking for content editors to help us translate our vision into reality. As a content editor, you will be a full-time salaried employee of CI.
You will be responsible for editing articles for style, accuracy, and content.
You must be a good writer. Submission of at least two writing samples is required for consideration.
You must be detail oriented.
You must have a good grasp of basic technological platforms. We are a remote operation. Editing, communication and publishing happen online.
You must be a good editor. That means being able to rewrite awkward sentences, make structural changes, and coach writers.
You must be a conservative. CI is a conservative organization with a strong ideological vision. As a content editor, part of your job will be to cooperate with the writers to find the most effective way to communicate a conservative viewpoint.
You are familiar with WordPress, Trello, Slack, Photoshop, Shutterfly, and other publishing tools.
You are familiar with SEO and social network marketing.
To succeed at this job, you must be passionately conservative. We're looking for someone who can add intellectual and professional heft to the team. We are looking to hire someone who can be an asset. There are many ways you can do this.
If you read news and opinion daily, have a good grasp of American history, and are familiar with the history of conservative ideas, then you'll be an asset.
If you have a big twitter following, are an expert in cross-platform marketing, and know the intricacies of the conservative media market, you'll be an asset.
If you can dissect the writing styles of Kevin Williamson, Mark Steyn, Thomas Sowell, Victor Davis Hanson, Rod Dreher, Ben Shapiro, and Ross Douthat -- you'll be an asset.
We look forward to working with you! Please send your applications to [email protected]
