We are currently seeking new team members to write in-depth features and how-to guides/tutorials covering Business To Business (B2B) IT systems and cybersecurity advice topics (for both business and consumers).
Cyber security writer
You’re a cybersecurity worker with practical day-to-day skills that can help businesses secure their IT assets. Areas that are fair game for this topic are server (Linux/Microsoft) hardening and monitoring; vulnerability and exploit mangement (CVE); update patch cycles; deploying, configuring, and interpreting both host and network intrusion detection systems (HIDS, NIDS); internet server configuration and hardening (Apache, Nginx, IIS); employee remote access concerns, and a virtually inexhaustible pile of other related topics. If you’re a developer, other topics such as hardening code to avoid remote exploits such as file includes, SQL injections, and other malware techniques would round this off nicely.
Business IT systems writer
This is a broad topic base that includes areas like backups, IT system monitoring, security architecture, threat detection/mitigation, account provisioning, network-level traffic analysis, and cross-platform technologies such as Active Directory. Ideally, you will work in, or have an ongoing exposure to a few of these areas and are an expert in at least one.
Requirements
- Previous online blogging or writing experience.
- You must be able to write a minimum of 2 posts per week, although preferably more.
- Come up with some of your own content ideas in addition to our assignments. Your broad IT background will allow you to see links between topics that may deepen our readers experience on the site.
- Produce well-researched content which covers topics comprehensively and engages our audience (there is no set length for posts or content and word count could be anything from 500 words to 3,000+).
- Be able to explain complex ideas or technical information in language the average person can understand. Also, when appropriate, be able to take interested readers on a “deep dive” of relevant concepts.
- A genuine interest and good level of knowledge in your chosen topic(s).
- Interact with readers via comments
- An excellent command of the English language
Desired/Optional Skills
- Source images for your content.
- Some knowledge of WordPress to upload drafts of your posts and content.
- Experience with any photo editing application is a bonus.
- Some knowledge of how to write with SEO in mind
