Description

Hi there. We’re looking for new writers for ThinkRemote. You can check it out here: www.thinkremote.com

Please read the following attentively. There will be a test at the end.  We'll disregard messages from people who don't pass. People who pass will become legendary, famous, rich, and beautiful, plus we'll contact them for an interview. One of these things will happen, at least.

Here’s what we expect from you:

  • Good English. You don’t have to be a native speaker, but your writing should read pleasantly to a native speaker.
  • No word stuffing. While meeting SEO objectives is important (more on that below), we want our articles to be pleasant to read and useful to readers, first and foremost.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and the will to structure your writing around them. Ideally, you should have a certification like the one from https://academy.hubspot.com/courses/content-marketing (It’s free, so go ahead and take it if you don’t have a similar thing.)
  • To be able to come up with your topics in our niche. We don’t need you to be an expert, just to be willing to research, learn, and pass on the learning to our readers.
  • We will also provide topics, but we like our writers to have autonomy.
  • To keep up to date with who’s who and what’s happening in the world of Remote Work, Digital Nomadism, and Remote Entrepreneurship. Leadership / Management related topics are also good. We are a news-driven outlet, so we expect your articles and news items to be fresh.
  • To be a forum / social network sleuth. The movers and shakers of the Future of Work are digital natives – the news happens on their social networks of choice.
  • To be fun. We’re not looking for clowns ( sad clown face :,( ) nor are we a humor website, but no one wants to read yet another poo-faced analytical essay about the benefits or growth of remote work. Bring personality and uniqueness to your writing.
  • To format your articles properly within WordPress, including relevant affiliate links for our partners.
  • A laptop, a good internet connection, webcam, and microphone. People working from their phones need not apply.

Here’s what’s in it for you:

  • A writing career. We’ll occasionally ask you for a ghostwriting post, but the vast majority of your writing will be under your name, and we will do what’s within our reach to help build up your credibility in our niches.
  • Coaching. Our founder has over 20 years of experience as a writer and editor. He will highlight what you need to do to make your writing shine.
  • We’re cool people, and we’re flexible with deadlines. We want you to do quality work and won’t complain if that takes an extra day or two.
  • We pay on time; we are transparent to all our employees about the business's profitability and want them to grow financially alongside it.
  • Employee benefits. While this is a contract position, we aim to make our contractors feel like full-time employees. Sick days, holidays, and PTO are all part of the package. Of course, this is a fully remote role, but we don’t consider it a benefit. :p

Here’s what you need to include in your application to be considered for the job:

  • Link to one sample of your best writing. One. 1. Uno. If you have trouble deciding, roll the dice. Please send only one. We employ people who make our life easier, not harder. :)
  • Link to your CV or LinkedIn profile. Bonus points if you add a content marketing / SEO certification like the one linked above.
  • Your expected full-time salary.
  • Propose the outline of an article covering a topic that you would write for our blog. A TITLE is not enough. We want to see a Table Of Contents.

PROTIP: Our readers want actionable content that will make them better remote workers, leaders, managers, business people, salespeople, etc. Or they are regular people who are sick of the daily grind and want to learn how to break out into a remote position. Either way, they seek an edge, instruction, or other kinds of value – not just fun storytelling and escapism.

That’s it. See you on the other side!

P.S.: Actually, that’s not it. We love people that read the “PS” more than we love the other people. So tell us what’s your favorite book / comic book after the points we described above. The other guys & ladies? We’re not reading their applications.
