About you

If you get genuinely hyped up when talking about things like SEO truth and fiction, the difference between 'farther' and 'further' and whether it's OK to start a sentence with 'and' or 'but', welcome home.

You're the kind of person who gets that freelance life isn't just about working in your damn pajamas. It's about passion, dedication and writing words that actually help people.

a.) You looove B2B writing and you're great at it—but juggling all the client stuff, it's just not for you. What you really want is steady work on your terms with a team of people who are actually fun to hang out with.

b.) You're sick and tired of working for soulless brands and questionable clients. You just want to do work that matters.

The B2B Copywriter is at the core of our mission at Pointed.

You're the person who makes it possible for us to consistently knock our clients' (and their clients'!) socks off by crafting super-relevant content B2B readers love.

In this role, you'll research, write and edit web content according to the highest content writing standards, including writing for SEO, conscious copywriting and writing that sounds both intelligent and human all at the same time. You'll master the A to Z of writing content that excels online, and has a very real impact in the offline world too.

Outcomes

  • Write high-quality content readers and clients LOVE
  • Submit content/copy that takes no more than two hours to edit
  • Never miss a deadline

Responsibilities

  • Research like a desktop detective, pinpointing the most relevant trends and giving proper accreditation to credible sources
  • Write content that cuts through the noise to clearly and directly support the one main message of each piece
    Self-edit like a sober Hemingway to ensure voice, grammar and style are always on point
  • Make recommendations to the Content Chief for content topics, workflow optimization and anything else you notice that can help us step up our game
  • Be an advocate for the reader—always address their real-life fears and wants

As you become more awesome at what you do, there will be plenty of opportunities to tackle new responsibilities (see below). Who knows? You could even become our next Content Editor or schmancy pants COO.

Contract includes:

  • 8 content assets per month of up ~1,500-2,000 words each / $1500 per month
  • 1 one-on-one content sync/ask-us-anything session per month
  • Regular team drop-in Zooms where you can kick back and talk shop (or just talk!) with other like-minded writers and marketers

Please do not apply if

  1. You’re not 110% comfortable writing about complex topics in conversational US and UK English. We know there are great writers all over the world, but if you aren’t an ace with US and UK English, this role will be a big waste of your time and energy.
  2. You’re really not that into B2B. If you hate research or just want to write a travel blog, you probably won’t enjoy working with us.
