Description

We have an immediate need for several contract proofreaders with strong writing skills.

We are a well-established content company that provides over 600,000+ words per month to clients.

We produce blogs and website content for a variety of niches. Our clients include lawyers, doctors, accountants, jewelry stores, shippers, banks, and much more.

Our proofreaders do more than just review finished work. A typical day would involve creating outlines for a variety of clients, proofing and editing drafts, and writing content.

All positions are remote. You can live anywhere in the world.

You must agree to work a minimum of 25 hours per week, a five-hour shift between the hours of 7 AM and 6 PM EST Monday-Friday.

More hours are available, including weekend hours.

Duties and Responsibilities
-         Researching and providing outlines for writers

-         Spelling and grammar checks

-         Edit or delete fluff and weird phrasings

-         Ensuring proper word flow

-         Checking to ensure all client instructions have been followed

-         Ensuring proper word flow

-         Modifying tone for consistency and impact

-         Plagiarism checks using Copyscape

-         Identify claims or insights that require further context or proof

-         Provide constructive feedback to help writers improve

-         Ensuring all directions and outlines have been followed

-         Checking that all links are functional and do not link to a competitor or non-authoritarian site

Requirements
-         College degree OR five or more years of experience as an editor, proofreader, and writer

-         At least 1-year work experience as a Content Editor or any similar role

-         Excellent proofing/editing skills

-         Solid writing skills backed by an online portfolio

-         Comfortable with handling a wide range of subjects

-         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-         Excellent computer competency and adept at learning new digital platform

-         Outstanding attention to detail and organization (borderline obsessive!)

-         Ability to work independently and remotely but in a team setting

-         Able to give constructive input and take direction well

-         Ability to proofread and edit 10,000 words minimum in a five-hour period

We have a strong preference for native English-speaking candidates: Applicants who have grown up and gone to secondary school and college in the U.S./UK/Australia/New Zealand/Ireland/Canada.

Desired Proficiencies and Familiarizations
-         Google Docs and Word

-         Google Sheets and Excel

-         Grammarly, to include knowing when Grammarly suggestions are correct and when they are not.

We use Monday.com as our assignment’s platform and Slack for communication.

Experience using SEMrush and the SEMrush writing tool is a plus.

Payment
We pay our contractors once a month, no later than the 10th of each month, by direct deposit.

Successful applicants will work on probation for one-two weeks.

Probationary applicants will be paid $10/hour. Payment will be remitted through PayPal.

Applicants that successfully conclude the probationary period will be offered contract employment with a starting rate of $13/hour, paid through direct deposit.

Frequency and amount of pay raises will depend on demonstrated competency in all areas. You can expect at least one pay raise within your first 90 days.
