Description
We need one or two killer freelance writers who can help our site expand into women’s style.
We run an established men’s style, gear, and lifestyle website and are now adding women’s style and grooming to our publishing schedule.
You’ll be a great fit for this gig if you have an honest voice, a good sense of humor, and an eye for quality goods.
While many of our articles revolve around products, our content never sounds salesy or like a regurgitation of product description pages. We bring a unique angle and interesting insights to everything we write about.
Our aesthetic is more utilitarian than frilly. We like stuff you can use, abuse, and hike in. A given jacket needs to take us from the office to the woods and then to the pub for a beer—all while looking damn stylish. We’re not super interested in “fashion,” opting instead for a sense of timeless, good-looking style made by brands who craft high-quality stuff.
If you think the above sounds good, please read on for the specifics and how you can apply to this opening.
SPECIFICS:
- We pay by the word, via PayPal.
- We require a work-for-hire freelance contract signature that can be terminated at any time by either party.
- Assignments range from 400 to 2,500 words.
- You’ll generally receive one or two assignments per week, sometimes more, sometimes less.
- We use Clickup for assignments and Slack for questions and other communication
- Some assignments will include a list of items or other information to include, other assignments will be more open-ended with you performing all necessary research to gather appropriate products and write the article
REQUIREMENTS:
- A clear voice with an engaging writing style
- Error-free, edited copy, that’s accurate and fact-checked
- Willingness to communicate via Slack and receive assignments via Clickup
- Ability to turn work around in a reasonable amount of time (generally a day or two for short articles, a few days for longer articles)
- Willingness to research the topic at hand to create a knowledgeable, informed article
HOW TO APPLY:
We will use a Google Form to collect information. (link below) The most critical part of the application process will be to include THREE writing samples that you think best demonstrate your writing style and voice. The writing samples MUST be in the form of LINKS (even if the link is simply to a shared Google Doc of your writing).
We’d prefer that you don’t just link to your portfolio. Instead, choose and then link to the three BEST examples of your writing from your portfolio. Live links on existing sites are even better. This part is important. Your examples are how we will determine whether you’re a fit for our site.
After we narrow the field to a set of qualified applicants, we will offer a PAID trial article to find the best candidate to join our team of freelancers.
Thanks for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you.
