Description
Love Coffee? Actually love it?
Do you cringe when you ask for a flat-white and the barista serves you a cortado?
Do you roll your eyes when someone tells you about their latest Starbucks creation?
You might be right for this...
About Me
I help manage a number of very active blogs and ecommerce stores, we publish 2-600K words a month. We’ve been operating continually for about 10 years now, with effective systems that streamline your time, and ours.
I’m looking to build an editorial team for a new project, starting with a few bombshell researchers who can also write.
About the Role
I’m investing heavily into getting knowledgeable, quality contributors to ensure that when a reader of any coffee-competence level sees our articles, they’re thrilled because it resonates with them. Perhaps they even share it with their friends, etc.
This is an opportunity for you to not just write, but connect with a passionate community about the thing you love most - caffeine! Whether you’re a self-proclaimed home barista who swears by the Chemex, someone hoping to one day be a certified Q Grader, or just a casual coffee-nut (bean?), we welcome you.
Have friends or contacts that know their stuff too? We need all the help we can get, feel free to share this.
Why the writer/researcher distinction?
I’m not into reading someone’s aimless 2000-word rambling about the pour-over method. Nobody is. I have a specific writing format in mind - it will be heavily resourced, informative, and punchy. (but fun!)
Writers will research topics and submit outlines for every article. They will be reviewed by coffee experts local to me that I have hired. Yes, you will be compensated for this effort.
Do I Need to Have Coffee ‘Experience’?
Significantly more consideration will go to those who have industry knowledge like being a part time barista, studying for coffee certifications, etc.
But no, a very good researcher who can follow our writing guidelines should be able to perform well.
Job Perks
Anyone can pay you a decent rate. I’m interested in paying a good starting rate, but also look forward to increasing it as you hit milestones, impress our editorial team, and stick around long term.
You’ll also be an integral team member for the site. Not just a freelance ‘somebody’. You will be featured on the site’s team bio. I hope you proudly mention that you write for the brand to your peers and on social platforms. You will be invited with open arms to discuss strategy, challenge the status quo, and provide feedback, especially if you move to other roles.
I understand the ins and outs of your work as well, maintaining boundaries and having realistic expectations is necessary. From top to bottom, we work with flexibility.
I also understand that you’re only earning when you’re writing. So a streamlined process of assignment, submission, review, and feedback utilizing remote tools keeps you moving and earning.
Come be part of an exciting, growing opportunity with long-term intent and make a name for yourself!
