My name's Becky, I'm in my middle 30's, and I'm a country girl living in the big smoke. I've been writing for as long as I can remember. Whether I'm creating content for my social media accounts, writing a new blog post, updating policies and procedures in my day job or writing letters to friends, writing is a huge part of my life.
I write from the heart and probably share more than I should. I pride myself on being real and authentic.
I've spent a large part of my adult life working in the sports industry and I've loved being able to incorporate my love for writing into my day job.
I've led my team to substantially improve member communications via our website, social media, newsletters, and email, as well as through internal communication channels, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
A few years ago I created a document to help guide our customers through the disciplinary hearing process. The guide landed on the desk of a colleague at The FA and has since been adopted by the national governing body, and is now used by all County FA's up and down the country. The aim of the document was to take the existing guidelines which were full of FA jargon, and re-write them in a language that could be understood by everyone involved in football.
Having decided that it's time to follow my dreams, I'm excited to be able to make my mark in freelance writing.
I'm at my happiest when I wake up at the crack of dawn, sitting at my laptop with a fresh pot of lemon & ginger tea, tapping away at the keyboard as I draft my latest piece. I love editing and proofreading as much as I do writing and find it a very therapeutic process.
So far, I've resisted finding a niche for my blog. I enjoy the freedom of having a diverse audience and writing about whatever springs to mind that day.
My writing covers everything from my travel adventures here in the UK and abroad, as well as my journey through mindfulness and wellbeing, and sometimes just the ups and downs of life.
I have a great understanding of WordPress, SEO and Google Analytics.

The Mindful Gingernut and I have been on quite a journey over the last 2-years. The Mindful Musings of a Gingernut is the title of my blog, The Mindful Gingernut for short. I mostly find myself blogging about everyday life, but with a focus on wellbeing and self-care, as well as the occasional travel adventure thrown in too.
I love the process of writing, proofreading, editing, and publishing.
I also love engaging with my audience and seeing my blog and social media platforms grow in popularity.
Leading the Governance department (safeguarding and discipline) to provide excellent customer service in grassroots football across London.
Reviewing, editing, and re-writing safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safeguarding operating standards were met.
Improved relationships between London FA and its neighbouring County FA’s and The Football Association, as well as our affiliated clubs and leagues by actively engaging with them through our communication channels.
Significantly contributing to the London FA’s strategy and operational plan, as well as implementing and monitoring.
Overseeing and coordinating the annual club and league membership process (circa. 1100 clubs, 4000+ teams, 35 leagues, and competitions), including the reviewing and editing of league rules to ensure the leagues remain compliant with the Standard Code of Rules and Standard Code of Rules for Youth, as well as reviewing club affiliations and feeding back the required changes to our clubs, showing the need for excellent attention to detail.
