Description
We’re on a mission to become the easiest side-hustle for ambitious freelance writers.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!?
You’re going to get clear instructions, detailed processes, and a reasonable pay.
As the Jr. Content Architect, you're setting up the document and outline for our writers.
(Click here to see an example.)
It’s going to be the side hustle you commit 4-6 hours a week to so you have the financial leeway to land higher paying clients. We’re going to take the time to help improve your writing AND teach you ways to go after the bigger fish.
Expect to get treated well. We want a team full of freelancers who do our recruiting for us because of the stellar training and friendly coaching they receive. We want to be the first company that comes to mind when your friend asks, “How can I get started freelance writing?”
We want to take care of freelancers because we ARE freelancers. This isn’t about paying pennies for work; it’s about giving us all a place to have some steady, reliable income.
Welcome to the most efficient freelancing job you’ve ever had.
WHAT IS A JR. CONTENT ARCHITECT?
Spending 10 years as a freelance writer taught me the value of a strong outline. Using 5-10 minutes to set a blueprint for the article cut my writing time in half.
You’re basically setting up the Google Doc and writing the outline for the writer. Here’s a more official list of your responsibilities:
- Setup the Article using the Assigned Template
- Prepare the Writer’s Assignment Sheet from your Service Order
- Outline the article for a cohesive, strategic flow
- Direct the writer and editor on links to research, images, and resources
If you’re good (and you enjoy it) this will be a great way to make some easy money as a freelance writer. Essentially, you’re getting paid to strategize someone else’s work.
Don’t worry, we’ve got a guide (with pictures) on EXACTLY what to do -- as well as a library of examples to look through.
COOL, I'LL GIVE IT A TRY. WHAT'S NEXT?
So, I gotta check out your skill level. Basically, you’ll need to be able to:
- Choose intuitive, interesting sub-headings for articles.
- Be good at quickly finding research, stats, and data.
- Know how to direct writers on how to write your vision.
To test it, we’ll start with a trial of 1-2 outlines (depending on the number of applicants).
WAIT, WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT A TRIAL?
It’s paid.
Via PayPal.
You’ll receive a trial writer contract and a service order of 1-2 outlines.
You’ll turn those in within 24 hours.
I’ll choose 1-3 people to hire for regular orders in September.
SPEAKING OF, WHAT'S THE PAY?
$0.01 per word.
But not per word you write, per word of the article order.
So, if you need to make 3-5 headings in 5 minutes for a 500-word article about a Washington Spa, you’ll get paid $5.
NICE. HOW CAN I APPLY?

READ THIS FIRST!!!
1) We’re gonna need to see 1-3 samples of OUTLINES. Don’t whine about how you’re a beginning freelancer or don’t have samples of work like this. Make something up. :-) If you’re hitting a ton of writer’s block, do an outline on the topic, “How to Land a Jr. Content Architect Job”
2) We asked for links to Google Docs for your outline samples. Send a Google Doc link; don’t tell us to email you for a PDF because we won’t. Make sure the sharing settings are, “Anyone with a link can view,” so we can actually see it.
3) Check out the linked example in our job description for what we're looking for with your outlines.
4) Make your sample follow a similar pattern. Attention to detail matters for this gig.
5) We've got 40,000 words to outline THIS WEEK. There's work to be done. Looking forward to your application!
Much love!
