Description
I run a small fiction ghostwriting agency. I need someone careful, consistent, and warm to take over daily inbox triage and writer coordination.
The person who's been doing this for me for years has done it alongside her postgraduate and teaching work. She's about to step into a bigger academic role and needs it off her plate — so I'm hiring. She's the register I'm looking for: someone careful, warm, and happy for this to run in the background of a real life.
Volume is low. One writer right now, maybe a couple more down the line — not a lot of triage, not a lot of moving parts.
If you're building a VA career, growing toward full-time, or looking for your next admin role — this isn't that. If you want a careful side-earner that runs quietly in the background of your real work, keep reading.
The work is quiet and repeatable. Open the inbox each morning, sort what came in, pass client feedback and delivered chapters to the right client on Slack with tact and clarity. Our writers are talented and sensitive — this role isn't about being clever, it's about being the person who always shows up, sorts things in the right order, and uses language carefully.
On top of the daily inbox work, you'd log chapter word counts into a shared sheet, roll them into a short monthly report, and write one short promo email a month in our voice to our list (separate from the client work).
You'd be a strong fit if:
- You write cleanly and read closely — an English or humanities background is the usual sign
- You enjoy a steady daily rhythm and don't need variety to feel engaged
- People who know you would describe you as reliable, warm, and diplomatic
- You can rewrite harsh client feedback into a message to the writer that lands softly without losing the content
- You have your own laptop and are comfortable in Word and basic Excel
Remote. Roughly 1–2 hours a week. $15/hr (so about $60–$120 a month at the current cadence).
This is a small, steady, long-term side-earner, not a career-track admin role. A good fit if you want a reliable low-key routine alongside your main work, writing practice, or caregiving. Not a fit if you need the hours to add up to a living.
US-based. I can't hire from California or New York for payroll reasons — please don't apply from either state.
Application Instructions
To apply, write me a short reply covering the three items below.
1. Which sentence in this ad made you think "that sounds like me" — quote it, and tell me in two lines why
2. One example of a time you had to deliver uncomfortable feedback to someone, and how you handled it
3. Imagine a client has written: "Chapter 4 missed the voice completely, the pacing dragged, I'm disappointed and worried about chapter 5."
Write two things, 100 words total:
(a) a reply to the client that buys time to fix it, and
(b) a message to the writer asking for a rework while keeping them motivated and the standard clear
If your reply lands, next step is a short paid trial, then a quick call.
I'll close this ad when I've found the right person.
Please don't send AI-generated text. I will spot it and it ends the conversation.
