This year at PBEVENT we wanted to provide a slightly more technical session to help you get the most out of your blog’s back-end performance. We have asked Dee Teal to host this session on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

As someone who spends all her life looking at the back end of websites Dee is reasonably confident that those of us who’ve been blogging or running a site for a long time focus way more on the front, than we do the back end.<\/p>\n

We nurture the style, swap out themes to keep things fresh, we listen to all the right people who teach us about how to write great content, generate more traffic, how to connect with our audience and how to connect with brands but we neglect the back end.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the thing\u2026 if we\u2019re making our website our business, we really should be prepared to take care, not just of the front, but of that back end.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s where this session can help\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dee will be talking about, and demonstrating taking care of your site, ensuring your site is stable, secure and speedy. This session will help you if you consider code as an alien concept and taking care of databases is something you know you should do, but you\u2019re scared to!<\/p>\n

In the course of the session one site Dee will be using an existing blogger\u2019s website as a case study… so if you meet the following criteria, please consider adding your site details in the form below for consideration to be reviewed and assisted in our session.<\/p>\n

If:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. You have been blogging for 2+ years<\/p>\n

2. Your site is currently self hosted WordPress i.e. not on WordPress.com (doesn’t matter if you didn’t start off that way)<\/p>\n

3. You are prepared to provide Dee with admin access to your site (not immediately, but if your site is chosen for potential review we\u2019ll ask for that later)<\/p>\n

4. You are happy to have your site (gently) reviewed from the stage<\/p>\n

5, You have registered and will be attending #PBEVENT<\/p>\n

6. You are planning to be in the room for the clinic. (we will advise you on the schedule shortly so you can decide whether this is a session you will be attending.<\/p>\n

From those sites submitted a shortlist of five sites will be selected for review before the event and you will be approached for admin access to your site.<\/p>\n

In the course of the clinic Dee will cover these elements of site health using the test case as a ‘client’.<\/p>\n

1. Backing up your site<\/p>\n

2. Updating your site<\/p>\n

3. Site Security<\/p>\n

4. Site Speed<\/p>\n

5. Outdated content, broken links<\/p>\n

(Please note a copy of the site using a backup plugin will be installed on a local machine. There will be no risk to your live site and no live editing).<\/p>\n

At the end of the session, the dummy version of the site will be running clean and efficiently. Attendees will leave the session feeling empowered to take care of their own site\u2019s back end confidently and with knowledge of the tools available to help them to do that.<\/p>\n
