Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) seeks a dynamic and effective Grant Writer who will work closely with the Director of Foundations Operations and Donor Communications to effectively execute the development of grant proposals and reports covering a wide range of program areas. Particularly during the organization’s Centennial year this position will largely focus on proposals and reports for some or the organization’s largest donors and prospects, including foundations and individual donors, and it will also offer opportunities to expand the grant writer's expertise in select program areas within the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, writes, end submits grant proposals and reports for individual donors, family foundations, and institutional funders.
  • Using the database to track upcoming deadlines.
  • Keeping program and finance staff abreast of requirements.
  • Working with staff to gather information that effectively and succinctly articulates projects goals, activities, anticipated outcomes successes, challenges, etc.
  • Collaborating with program and finance staff, as well as with Principal and Major Gifts
  • officers as needed, to draft compelling and donor-centric narrative and financial materials, including grant proposals, reports, request letters, case statements.
  • Helps to prepare briefings, talking points, presentations, and collateral materials for senior leadership and other PPFA staff In advance of donor meetings.
  • Assists with editing, proposals and reports drafted by other Foundations team members.
  • Assists with other Foundations tasks as requested, including prospect research, data entry and management and drafting correspondence or e-blasts for Foundation donors.
  • Stays abreast of PPFA's programmatic priorities, initiatives and policy positions, as well as current new and information related to reproductive health and rights.

REQUIREMENTS / TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • 4 years of direct experience in development or communications writing for a nonprofit/advocacy organization preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Collegial communicator who can collaborate with staff at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, learn and process information quickly, and exercise good judgment when dealing with a wide variety of people.
