The Rookies is an International Awards for young designers, creators, innovators, and artists. The Awards were created to discover and showcase the outstanding talent emerging from higher education facilities and help launch them into careers at the world’s top studios.
We are growing fast and we are looking for a talented writer to help improve our blog and grow it's readership.
We are looking for writers who can produce in the range of 15 (or more) news articles per month that relate to students or recent graduates in creative industries eg: Visual Effects, Animation, Graphic Design, Web Design, Film Production, Industrial Design etc.
We are ONLY INTERESTED in applicants that can show experience, passion, and knowledge is creative fields and helping students learn and improve their chances of employment.
Who are you?
We are looking to build long-lasting work relationships with 2-3 talented freelancer writers who can write copy that is as stimulating to the reader as it is flawless.
You know:
- How to construct a compelling narrative
- How to find a good angle to a story before you write it
- How to make a "hook"
- That you should "show, not tell"
- That facts always need to be double checked
What we need you for
Our mission is to become a strong and respected voice for young creatives and we need your help.
We write:
- Education articles about featured schools and courses
- Articles about Events students should attend
- Interviews with previous winners
- Recruitment focused articles on how to get a job
- Studio news (closures, departures, hirings)
- Tools and Skills based articles
- Demo Reel and Portfolio guidelines
- On the Job content about what it's like to work at studios
- Day in the Life articles about companies and staff roles
- Proof-reading and adding finishing touches to tutorials and interviews submitted by our readers
For many of these articles, we will provide contacts to talk to. We can provide technical advice and we will always be available to help answer questions and help you understand our full range of industries.
Bonus Extras
- Knowledge of online post promotion is a plus.
- Knowledge of WordPress and basic image editing is a plus.
- Knowledge of design based careers and industries is a huge plus.
We pay per post and for writers who hit the 15 post target we have a bonus $$ pool based on how much traffic your posts generate.
We are looking for writers who are prolific, talented, professional in their approach to writing and detail oriented. Posts will range from 400 words and up.
